FOLLOWING a 2-2 draw against Chelsea in their pre-season friendly on Wednesday night, Wrexham Manager, Phil Parkinson has taunted Chelsea for spending billions.

Jack Marriott and Luke Bolton scored in the second half to give the League One side the lead after Christopher Nkunku’s first-half strike before Lesley Ugochukwu saved the Blues with an 82nd-minute equaliser.

Speaking after the game, Parkinson said: “You’ve got to put it into context. We’ve played a billion-pound team, they’ve spent so much money, and two years ago we were playing in the National League.

“To go toe-to-toe with Chelsea tonight, you can understand what an effort that was from the lads and we could and should have won the game.”

Chelsea will then play Champions of Europe Real Madrid and end the preseason against Inter Milan before the first game of the new season at home to Manchester City.
