PREMIER League giants, Manchester United on Thursday announced a two-year contract extension for Erik Ten Hag.

Following the end of last season, reports suggested that the former Ajax man would be sacked from the club after they failed to make the top four and thereby missing out on the Champions League.

However, it appears that the club hierarchy has decided to keep their trust in the Dutchman who secured the FA Cup trophy last season as the new deal will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2026.

Speaking to the club’s website, Ten Hag said: “I am very pleased to have reached agreement with the club to continue working together.

“Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.

“However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles.”

The FA Cup win was necessary for the United team as it guaranteed them Europa League qualification ahead of next season.
