QATAR 2022: Mane's absence costs Senegal World Cup win

From yesterday's performance, it was obvious that Mane's absence would adversely affect the Senegalese team in their Qatar campaign.

DESPITE creating multiple chances, the Senegalese football team could not find the back of the net as the Netherlands stole the win 2-0 during the second half of the game yesterday, Monday, November 21, 2022.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal are in the World Cup in Qatar without their talisman and Africa's Footballer of the Year, Sadio Mane which has proven to be a problem for Cisse's men who could not convert their chances into goals.

Cisse believes they should have buried some of the chances had the Bayern Munich star been in the team.

"We are disappointed to have not scored, we had two or three very good chances. We needed to be more effective in front of the goal.

"Ismaila [Sarr] and Krepin [Diatta] are responsible there, but of course, the absence of Mane is a problem for us. Our attackers are good and we know what they are capable of.

"It was a challenging game. We need to work on it (scoring goals) with Ismaila and the others. We expect a lot from him and Krepin," Senegal coach, Cisse said after the match.

Senegal would need to gather the remaining six points against Qatar and Ecuador should they want to stand a chance of qualifying for the next round.
