THE world football governing body, FIFA has suspended three nations from partaking in the 2026 FIFA World Cup competitions that will be held in Mexico, the USA and Canada.
FIFA has taken swift action by suspending the Football Federations of Congo (FECOFOOT) and Pakistan (PFF) with immediate effect due to 'serious circumstances', which will see them banned from the 2026 World Cup.
On the suspended Congolese football body, FIFA, in a statement said, “The decision was taken in consultation with CAF after two FIFA/CAF missions were dispatched to Brazzaville."
Pakistan has been suspended for failing to adopt a revised constitution that ensures "truly fair and democratic elections" and will only be lifted if the PFF Congress approves the version of the PFF Constitution presented by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The third nation that will miss out on the 2026 World Cup is Russia, which has been suspended since 2022 after it invaded Ukraine back in February 2022.
