FA confirms date for United, City community Shield Clash

THE Football Association has confirmed that the 2024 Community Shield will take place at 15:00 BST or 15:00 WAT on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

The Cityzens made it to the Community Shield showdown by winning the Premier League trophy last season making it four consecutive times while the United FA Cup win last season put them in the Community Shield final.

The Reds were last involved in the Community Shield eight years ago, in 2016, when goals from Jesse Lingard and Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped them overcome Leicester City.

For the Cityzens, they were last involved in the competition last season when they lost to Arsenal on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes of playtime.

United have won each of their last four appearances in the showpiece game, and have lifted the trophy outright on 17 occasions. On a further four occasions, they've shared it with other clubs after draws.

Man City will be looking to lift the trophy for the seventh time in history, with Guardiola already having won it twice with City. It will also be the 194th competitive Manchester derby.
