Sports Minister urges NFF to appoint capable hands

With the 2025 AFCON qualifiers coming up soon, Senator Enoh has highlighted the need for a coach who understands the dynamics of African football and can lead the Eagles to Gold.

THE Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has urged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to employ a capable coach who has a track record of success to lead the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are without a coach after Finidi George tendered his resignation letter due to the NFF's decision to hire a foreign technical director to oversee things in the Senior Men's team.

With the 2025 AFCON qualifiers coming up soon, Senator Enoh has highlighted the need for a coach who understands the dynamics of African football and can lead the Eagles to Gold.

Enoh said: “The Super Eagles need a coach with pedigree and a track record of achievements. We need someone who can propel us towards winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and ensure our qualification for the 2026 World Cup.”

The Minister of Sports also noted that the Federal Government has released 17 billion naira to the NFF to clear Super Eagles bonuses, and allowances. The intervention fund was 12 billion naira but rose to 17 billion naira due to foreign exchange variation.
