A concerned resident of the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA has appealed to the council Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Bola Shobowale, to reduce the noise pollution from religious houses in the council area.
The resident, identified as Tosin Adeleye, repeatedly left a comment on the official Facebook page of the council area, urging the council Boss to end the noise pollution in the Ashipa community.
The comment read: “Morning my amiable chairman mummy Shobowale... Ma, I will request that you look into noise pollution in the LCDA. It has become pertinent that a check needs to be carried out and I believed (sic) there are laws and specified decimated frequencies for volumes and gadgets.
“Most especially the unbearable noises from religious houses (sic) the mosque and churches. After long day work, I think an individual deserves his rest. Unfortunately, it's the reverse, ranging from various megaphones from mosques by 5 am in the morning then mobile Christian preachers at almost the same period and their worship days which is Sundays...
“Ma, I strongly believed (sic) religion should not be a bane to constitute pollution. Ma'am, haven (sic) been to developed countries we have witnessed call to prayers, which is never used as a yardstick to promulgate noise pollution. This is getting unbearable for some of us living in Ashipa and its environs.”
She then appreciated the Ashipa Central Mosque and the RCCG for always keeping their religious noises to the barest minimum while considering other residents of the community.
