Igando-Ikotun LCDA gives 30 days ultimatum to occupants of illegal structures to quit

THE Executive Chairman, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, has issued a 30-Days ‘Removal Order’ to owners/occupants of illegal structures, shanties, kiosks and containarised shops within the Secretariat. 

Akinsanya disclosed that the ‘Removal Order’ became necessary so as to prepare for the beautification of the Secretariat's environment. 

According to the Council boss, “Illegal vendors and others have turned the Council's Secretariat into an eyesore. In addition, they have littered the entire area with indiscriminate waste materials. It is interesting to note that none of the owners, occupants and illegal business operators has any permit from the local government”

He reiterated that immediately after the expiration of the ‘Removal Order’ within 30 days, the environment enforcement operatives would embark on a cleanup exercise in the premises, as well as clampdown on all criminal elements disturbing law-abiding government premises. 

Also, the standard procedure before Allocation of space was also highlighted:

1. Write Official letter to Environment Office
2. State the kind of business you intend to do on the premises
3. All Container must be the same shape and sizes and painted in green & white colour
4. And don't give anybody money for space allocation. 

Akinsanya said with the notices been circulated, the clock for the removal of the illegal structures has started ticking.  

He further added that the notice will expire on 14th September then it is expected that the owners of the structures would have fully complied with the removal notice.

Akinsanya also implored all illegal occupants of any of the government lands and properties across the community to immediately vacate same as anyone caught would be seriously dealt with in accordance with the law.

He, therefore, advised that all owners of illegal structures, shanties and containerized shop owners should comply with the removal notice given to them within 30 days. If not, the Government will have no choice but to reposition them at the expiration of the notice.
