THE Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya has commenced the construction of a one-kilometre deep drainage system within the premises of the Ikotun Irepodun market to address the issues that may arise from flooding and its many negative impacts.

According to reports reaching Alimoshotoday, Akinsanya made this announcement on Saturday, July 9, 2022, while on an inspection tour of the market, saying that the construction of the drainage system would go a long way in improving the productivity of the Ikotun market.

“The drainage system would be channelled out of the area into the canal and flooding will be a thing of history in the area.

“In the past, we had this whole place flooded; with this one-kilometre drainage, the drainage system would be led out of the area into the canal and flooding will be a thing of the past,” he said.

The Council Chairman, therefore, called for the support and cooperation of stakeholders and residents of the area in order to enable seamless execution of the project.
