AS the Lagos educational sector begins partial resumption in the gradual ease of COVID-19 restrictions, final year students of the Lagos State University and selected members of staff have resumed this morning after about six months of the enforced lockdown.
"Right from the gates, returning members of the university community", according to LASU's Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) "were encouraged by the vigilant security team on ground to use their masks and wash their hands at designated handwashing points."
Returning final year students also had their identity cards scrutinised by the security operatives to ascertain that they are indeed final year students, in conformity with the University's guidelines, Alimosho Today learnt.
Members of staff, students and visitors arriving in personal vehicles were not left out of the scrutiny by the security operatives, in order to ensure that they observe COVID-19 protocols before being granted entry into the University campus.
A source from LASU's CIPPR told AlimoshoToday: " Some senior members, in particular members of the University Management, level 12 officers and above have resumed today.
"We equally have members of staff who provide essential services on ground, as the situation demands."
LASU's CIPPR also said in their press release: "It is worthy of mention that Lagos State University has become one of the first public higher institutions to resume in the country as COVID-19 restrictions are being relaxed."
