Educational institutions have been shut down since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that forced a national lockdown in March.

Ogundimu said: "We have gone round all the facilities of the University, we have seen the gates, the medical centre and classrooms. We have really checked everything we need to check, and we can tell you that LASU is ready for resumption. We have seen a whole lot of things that we have never seen in any other institutions."

Hon. Ogundimu, in company of other members of the Committee- Hon. Setonji David, Hon. Bisi Yusuf and Hon. Olawale Subub - after a brief meeting at the Vice Chancellor 's Office, were taken round the University Campus by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, when the House delegation visited the campus to have a first-hand assessment of the University 's readiness to resume in line with the directives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The lawmakers visited the main gate, Faculty of Law and the University Health Centre, amongst other locations and expressed satisfaction at the level of facilities put in place to ensure the safety of returning students and staff. The lawmakers were particularly impressed by the standard of the facilities in the law faculty and called on the University to replicate the infrastructure in all other faculties.

Earlier on their arrival, during his meeting with the management, Hon. Ogundimu congratulated the University on its latest ranking as the second best University in Nigeria and commended all the stakeholders for the feat.

"I congratulate the Vice Chancellor, the management and all members of the University on your latest ranking as the second best university in Nigeria. We were not expecting anything less. We have seen you as the pacesetters and we know you are not going to disappoint us. We are happy at what has been happening in this University. For the past four years, all we hear is good news and that is what you can achieve with peace, " he said.

He challenged the University to maintain the ranking and even surpass it: "LASU should now start looking at how it can be first, not just in Nigeria but in Africa. It looks like a tall order but it is attainable. Once you set a target for yourself, you can attain it.

"We want more from the University. The university in terms of research should be looking towards research that solves problems of our society. We must train our students to be job creators."

From the University, the Vice Chancellor was joined on the assessment tour by other members of the Management, Chairman of the Quality Assurance Implementation Committee, and other senior officials of the University.
