Sir Alex Ferguson names Most Impressive Side and it’s not United

FORMER Manchester United Manager and Premier League Hall of Fame, Sir Alex Ferguson has named the club that impressed him the most during the opening fixture of the 23/24 Premier League season.

Despite Manchester United securing a 1-0 win against Wolverhampton on Monday, SAF has named Aston Villa, who lost 5-1 to Newcastle United as his most impressive side of the opening game.

When asked by NBC Sports about the team that had impressed him most after match-day one fixtures, Ferguson said: “To be honest with you, I watched Aston Villa against Newcastle, and I can’t believe the scoreline. Honestly, Aston Villa played fantastic football and just lost bad goals.

“Newcastle are going to be very difficult to beat in their own ground in particular and the manager [Eddie Howe] has done a great job there.

“But it is a surprising game of football. I mean, you can play teams off the pitch but you don’t score and that is what happened to Aston Villa.”

Aston Villa, who is managed by former Arsenal Manager and Europa League Specialist, Unai Emery would be hoping to secure its first win of the season on Sunday against Everton on home ground.
