Finidi George plans to use 4-3-3 formation at WCQ.

HEAD Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has made it known that he would be using a 4-3-3 formation at the World Cup qualifier against South Africa and Benin Republic.

During Jose Peseiro's time in charge of the Super Eagles at the AFCON competition, the Super Eagles deployed a 3-4-3 formation, which meant that the forward players would need to always fall back to defend when out of possession.

Finidi, who was an assistant to Peseiro, faulted the formation as he prefers to stick to a more balanced formation of 4-3-3, which over time has been the national team's traditional formation.

“We struggled going forward as well, so we just have to get that balance right. Maybe the formation has to change, whereby we take away a player at the back and put him in the midfield,” Finidi told Arise News.

"We played 3-4-3 in the last AFCON and maybe it's time we get back to 4-3-3 where we make use of our wingers and properly," he added.

The Super Eagles will play the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on June 7, 2024, before playing the Squirrels of Benin Republic on June 10, 2024.
