In his opening remarks, the council Chairman welcomed everyone and appreciated their presence even at short notice. He enumerated the essence of the summit while lauding the programmes and policies of the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) in the fourteen (14) months of his administration.

He stressed that the agitations of the people have received the attention of the President as he has continued to engage key stakeholders while expressing confidence in the eventual positive effect of these engagements.

He also emphasised the ban of religious and social gatherings on the streets of Agbado Oke-Odo between the first and fifteenth of August, 2024, as the planned protest is politically motivated and may disrupt the peace and calm Lagos State has enjoyed since the #Endsars Protest. He, therefore, appealed to attendees to engage their people so they don't get misled into joining the protest. 199e

The three DPOs corroborated the Chairman's stance while enlightening the participants on the need to cooperate with the police and give vital security information at their disposal as and when necessary.

Mr Ernest Kasunmu mentioned that the Government has been responsive and, therefore, pleaded with community members to avoid all forms of protest. He gave the assurance that the relationship between community members and the police will forestall any eventuality. In the same vein, Bishop T. O. S and Chief Imam Mahmood Raji Ajani craved the indulgence of the people to exercise patience with the present Government as there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf also lent her voice to security matters. She opined that the current administration is both responsible and responsive and, therefore, encouraged Nigerians to keep their light of hope burning, emphasizing that it is easier to destroy than to build.

The Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Agbado Oke-Odo Chapter, Comrade Femi Osungboye, dissociated Agbado Oke-Odo youths from any protest and that a Press Conference will be held to that effect on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Alhaji Abiola Azeez (Istijabah) also declared that all hands are on hand as no transport union will join any protest. 199d

In rounding off, HRM (Oba) Samuel Oroja, who spoke on behalf of the Association of African Traditional Religion, said that traditionalists are with the Government of the day as no traditional activities will take place between the stipulated dates and even beyond up till August 25, 2024.

The high point of the summit is the stakeholders agreeing to the fact that protest is not the way to go at this crucial point in time.

Also present at the Summit were the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Ajoke Moromoke Obe, the Leader of the 5th Legislative, Hon. Olatunji Ogunyemi and other Councillors, the Secretary to the Local Government, High Chief Akinwumi James Odeyemi and other Cabinet members, the Council-Manager, Mr Olugbenga Shogbanmu together with the Management Team and other stakeholders.
