AMID effort to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca has confirmed Nicholas Jackson as the club's No. 9 as the season progresses.
Chelsea are hoping to add Osimhen to the squad before the end of the season as they intend to strengthen their attacking sides; the Blues have also considered Ivan Toney as a target.
Despite the numerous possibilities of a new striker, the newly appointed manager has faith in the Ivory Coast international going into the season.
Speaking ahead of the second-leg clash with Servette in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday, the former Leicester City boss said: “I didn’t speak to Nicolas about this. I had a meeting with Nicolas yesterday but just about the amount of good things he is doing with us.
“I don’t think Nicolas needs a chat. He is our nine, our striker in this moment. We are very happy with him.”
The Ivory Coast International, Jackson has not met expectations in front of goal since joining the Blues last summer.
