CARLO Ancelloti has branded Kylian Mbappe the best striker at the moment after an impressive performance in Madrid's 4-1 win over Las Palmas in La Liga on Sunday.

The former Paris Saint-Germain man netted twice in the match, one from a penalty kick in the 18th minute and then doubled his game record in the 36th minute.

Speaking after the game, Ancelotti was effusive in his praise for the Frenchman, who started his senior football career as a Monaco forward.

“Mbappé’s great form is helping us a lot. Our work today was very good. We managed to get the right balance to handle both the good moments and the difficult ones.

“He’s the best centre-forward in the world. We could put him on the left wing, but he’s a great striker, and he’s very comfortable through the middle rather than on the wing.

“He has a unique ability to lose his marker, and in central areas, he can make the most of it,” he said.

With Real Madrid at the top of the Premier League table, Mbappe in 18 games has recorded 12 goals, four behind Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, who has scored 16 times in 19 games.
