THE Federal Government has extended the current phase two of the eased lockdown by four weeks.
Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential COVID-19 Taskforce, divulged this during a task force briefing in Abuja on Thursday, August 6.
The current lockdown had been extended for one week on July 27 due to Sallah celebrations on July 29th.
Mustapha said the extension followed the PTF recommendation to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
”After due consideration of the recommendations, Mr President approved the following: Maintaining the current phase of the National Response to COVID-19 for another four weeks in line with the modifications reflected in the Report, ” he said.
Mr Mustapha, who is also the head of the PTF, said the extension is an opportunity to: “Strengthen collaboration with other mandate groups at federal/state levels to harmonise the country’s COVID-19 response, on the short, medium and long-term basis.
“Mandate State authorities and the FCT, to enforce non-pharmaceutical guidelines, primarily the use of face masks in public appearance and places.”
According to him, the current curfew of 10 pm to 4 am is still in force.
