FOLLOWING the guidelines issued by the Lagos State government with regards to the reopening of restaurants and local cafeterias, investigations by AlimoshoToday reveal that some eateries allow dining-in while most local cafeterias did not comply with any of the guidelines.
The regulation guiding eateries stated that "in-dining" is prohibited. However, customers can order carryout or delivery. This is in addition to other state directives including physical distancing, use of masks, temperature checks, regular disinfection of property and healthy personal hygiene.
AlimoshoToday visited three restaurants within Alimosho Local Government to investigate their compliance level to the State Government’s directives.
In the first eatery visited, people were allowed to dine in after their temperatures were checked and hand sanitizer was sprayed on their palms.
After the routine check was carried out on each customer in the other two restaurants, eat-in was strictly prohibited.
However, as one customer made a move to exit the third restaurant, expressing displeasure at the strict carry-out policy, a male staff hinted: "If you want to eat here, I can take you to where you will sit. Don’t worry".
And, while waiting for the ordered item to be served, a dining area was made available.
Meanwhile, local cafeterias have been operating without hindrance and some only made provisions for hand sanitizer.
Surprisingly, most of the cafeterias visited did not comply with the State directives, including the wearing of masks and hand gloves.
