THE Onikotun of Ikotun, HRH Azeez Gbadabiu Asiwaju in preparation of his 20 years coronationon, has commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the construction of the Abaranje Road.
Onikotun gave the commendation during a press briefing at his palace to launch the activities for his 20 years anniversary on the throne.
However, the monarch beseech the governor to order the contractor working on the abandoned Ijedodo- Abule Ado link road construction project and Abaranje to return back to work.
He appealed to the Governor to come to the aid of residents and road users of the Gafaru Road as it will reduce the constant traffic jam at Ikotun roundabout junction and old garage,as motorists going to Egbe, Isolo, Mushin, Mainland and the Island will pass through the road as alternative route.
"On behalf of myself and the entire people in the kingdom of Igando-Ikotun, LCDA of Lagos State, we express our profound gratitude to our God-sent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for approving the construction of the deplorable Abaranje Road which has been ignored and neglected by successive administrations despite several complaints and appeals sent to the government", he said.
"This has come on the heel of my 20 years anniversary with series of events, which will include prayer sessions on insecurity in the country and peace in Lagos and Ikotunland.
Speaking on the activities lined up for the anniversary, His Royal Highness said it will kick off on May 15, with traditional rites at Ikotun Shrines for prayers among other rites. Indigene Chieftaincy conferment "Oye omo ilu," comes up on May 19, with Iwuye ceremony of Rabiu Abiodun Hassan, Chief Public Affairs Officer of the Lagos State Government, as Chief Balogun of Ikotun Land at Oba's Palace, Ikotun.
The anniversary celebration is slated for May 23 where the popular ace Fuji musician, king Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, KWAM1, will entertain guests at Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Secretariat, Ikotun.
While the grand finale comes up on May 30, 2021 with Thanksgiving Service.
