IGANDO-Ikotun Council Chairman, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde, has said effort is being put in place to free up clogged drains in the council area and mop up floodwaters that have taken over the roads during the raining season.
While on tour of the Igando-Ikotun area, he appealed to the people to desist from dumping refuse into the drains.
He also said that de-silting of the drains has been compounded by the activities of LAMATA compound contract staff who have turned many major drainage channels into refuse dumps including tertiary drains.
He warned them to clear drainage for the free flow of water into the various drainage channels.
The chairman, who was accompanied on the tour of the local government area by the Head of Administration, HOD environment, HOA Engineering, NULGE Chairman, Comrade Alani Babatunde and Eniola Badmos.
"The present administration is committed to an enduring solution to the issue of flooding across Igando Ikotun LCDA", the Council Chairman said.
