THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, hosted a delegation from the National Population Commission (NPC), led by Barr. (Mrs) Olayinka Oladunjoye, the Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State, alongside the Lagos State Director of NPC, Mr Bamidele Sadiqu, among others.
Information reaching AlimoshoToday states that the visit was aimed at sensitising the Local Government authorities on the importance of the upcoming national census and educating stakeholders on the necessary steps required to ensure a smooth and accurate headcount.
Speaking during the visit, Barr. (Mrs) Oladunjoye emphasised the significance of grassroots participation in the exercise, noting that an accurate census is crucial for effective planning, development, and resource allocation.
In his response, the Council's Helmsman, Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya expressed his administration’s awareness of the importance of the census in national planning and development.
“We are not unaware of the importance of the census, we will give all necessary support and assistance to ensure a successful and smooth exercise,” he stated.
The NPC delegation appreciated the Chairman’s commitment and emphasised the significance of the collaboration between the Commission and local authorities to achieve credible population data.
