FOLLOWING the unveiling of his manifesto for the people of the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area, Elder Comr. Femi Ikugbayigbe has announced that his fourth and fifth agendas will centred on education and employment opportunities for all if elected as the Executive Chairman of the LCDA in the forthcoming Lagos State Local Government election.
On his education plan, Ikugbayigbe said he would provide free school uniforms, writing materials (biro, pencils, erasers, exercise books, etc. for pupils in Nursery and Primary schools, provide school bags, lunch bags, flasks, and others to pupils In Nursery and Primary schools across the council, sponsor sporting activities i.e. inter-house sports for both Primary, Secondary, and Nursery schools, celebrate the annual Children’s Day on May 27 of every year and provide working tools for schools staff.
Other areas of Ikugbayigbe’s plans for education the provision of desks and chairs for Nursery and Primary school pupils/students, continued sponsorship of the annual Spelling Bee competition, organise children's excursions to tourist centres within and outside the State and country yearly, provision of scholarship for best students in Primary, Secondary, and Higher Institutions of learning, purchase of WAEC, NECO, GCE, and JAMB forms for students and organise summer lectures for them, training and empowerment of youth on ICT, and so on.
On employment, Ikugbayigbe said his administration will open employment opportunities for graduates, technicians, and Secondary School Leaving Certificate holders if the recently approved Local Government autonomy is fully in operation, noting that he would create employment opportunities for projects monitoring team across the political zones that make up the five political wards.
Ikugbayigbe also has a plan to establish a local vigilante team in collaboration with the LSNC, Nigeria Police, and other security personnel, create an Environmental Corps for Cleaner Egbe-Idimu LCDA, and so on.
