OCEAN City, Nigeria’s first green smart city, was launched on Friday, December 17, 2021, in Lagos.

Ocean City is Nigeria’s newest man-made island located off the Lagos coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The island is a project planned by the Obasanjo-government in 2003 and launched in 2021 by Ocean City Limited.

The “Jewel of the Atlantic” offers a luscious eco-tourism landscape, restaurants, modern residential neighbourhoods, new medical facilities, high-end shops, public parks, sports centres, arts and entertainment hubs.

The Managing Director, Ocean City Lagos, Ms. Dewunmi Osagie, also announced that Ocean City will house a 50 storey skyscraper which will become the tallest building in Nigeria and Africa.

Seun Obasanjo represented the former president who said that Ocean City will create an environment for the private sector to thrive, increase direct foreign investment, and promote national tourism.
