FOUR buildings have reportedly collapsed due to the intensity of the fire that engulfed part of Dosunmu Market in Lagos Island on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the fire, which razed a two-storey building, began at 10 am.
Confirming the incident, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said that 14 other buildings were seriously impacted by the inferno.
Farinloye said that the source of the fire could be attributed to the refuelling of a running generator at the market.
He added that emergency responders at the scene of the incident included NEMA, Federal and State Fire Services, the Nigeria Police, and the fire service of the Nigeria Ports Authority.
