Barcelona star joins Rodri, threatens FIFA, UEFA with strike

BARCELONA defender, Jules Kounde has backed Rodri’s latest comments on the possibility of a footballer strike due to the addition of more fixtures to the football calendar.

The new UEFA Champions League format and FIFA Club World Cup format seem not to sit well with some players, including Kounde as it will see players play more matches than before.

Take for example, Rodri played 63 games for club and country last season, with the new UEFA and FIFA format he could end up playing 70-80 games this season.

Speaking ahead of the Monaco clash, Kounde said; “Every year we have more games and less rest; we players have been saying this for 3-4 years now but nobody pays attention to us.

“The time will come when we will have to go on strike to make ourselves heard, as Rodri said.”

Barcelona began the new UEFA Champions League format campaign last Thursday with a 2-1 loss to Monaco following an Eric Garcia red card in the 10th minute as the French team ensured to take advantage of it.
