Abandoned vehicles towed away from major streets in Alimosho

 STREETS and roads in Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Alimosho Local Government Area have in the early hours of today received officials of the Taskforce in charge of removing abandoned vehicles causing traffic congestion and aiding armed robbery, among others.

In a move to further ease free flow of traffic in the metropolis, Frederic Oladeinde, Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, had recently inaugurated a 10-member Ad-Hoc Committee to oversee issues of vehicles abandoned on highways and major streets in the State.

Market Street by Council Bus Stop, Idimu, Foursquare Way, Orisunbare Idimu and Ogunlana Street in Egbeda were combed by the officers and defaulting vehicles have been towed to their Alausa office, AlimoshoToday can confirm.

A source from the Taskforce office removing the offending vehicles told AlimoshoToday that abandoned vehicles cause traffic congestion and unsuspected criminals often hide dangerous weapons inside them and use the weapons to inflict terror on residents at night.
 
"There was a vehicle we towed and arms and ammunition were discovered in them," the source narrated.
 
Speaking with AlimoshoToday, the spokesman of the Taskforce, Alhaji Salami, said: "We are here to enforce the law by taking off abandoned vehicles on the road to our office at Alausa. So when they get to Alausa, they'll settle their case."
