LAGOS State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has emphasised his government’s pledge to provide convenient and low-cost homes to Lagosians.
The State Commissioner for Housing, Mr Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, stated this while inspecting the 1,188 housing units at Sangotedo in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
He listed projects to be completed before the first and second quarters of 2021 to include 660 homes at Lagoshoms Odo Onosa /Ayandelu in Agbowa Local Council Development Area, Egan Igando Scheme with 630 homes, LagosHoms LASU in Lagos State University main campus with 36units and LagosHoms Ajara in Badagry with 420 homes.
The commissioner advised Lagosians to discredit opinions that influential backups are needed to benefit from Lagos Housing Schemes.
He stated that the housing schemes are for all Lagos residents and taxpayers irrespective of status or income.
The commissioner assured that “all you need to do is to approach the Lagos Mortgage Board.”
He said there were two options of outright purchase of the units or 33.3 per cent of annual income for residents on the rent-to-own payment plan who are expected to make a monthly payment.
The commissioner further stated that the Ministry of Housing should be contacted for outright sales.
He, however, stated emphatically that the housing schemes do not require the help of any agent or association, except the state Ministry of Housing or its mortgage board.
The commissioner added that there are challenges because the demands for Lagos Housing Schemes are high but reiterated Governor Sanwo-Olu’s readiness to make everyone happy by providing more homes.
