THE Members of the Federal House of Representatives have rejected a motion calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria to make all secondary school examinations for 2023/2024 free for all Nigerians as part of measures to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

According to media reports, the motion moved by Anamero Dekeri of the Edo All Progressives Congress (APC) party, last Wednesday, asked the Federal Government (FG) to pay the fees for the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) examinations for all students.589

Dekeri stated that the FG had already saved money through the removal of petroleum subsidy and should help families that are struggling.
