THE Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, on Friday, February 18, 2022, announced the introduction of 12 new fit-for-purpose comprehensive schools across the six education districts in the state, adding that these schools will commence operation on Monday, February 21, 2022.
According to her, two comprehensive schools has been established in each of the six education districts in the state.
Mrs. Adefisayo explained that the comprehensive school system will provide suitable career-ready skills to students with different profiles of intelligence or intellectual competence.
She said, “The essence of establishing the comprehensive schools is to produce students who can fit into the workplace requirements.
”It is a fit-for-purpose education plan that will provide opportunities for employment and a path to entrepreneurship.”
Mrs. Adefisayo explained that the school will start with those in Senior Secondary One (SS1) by equipping them with core skills such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, communication, marketing and sales, and digital literacy for the pilot phase.
She reiterated that the comprehensive schools would later offer subjects like agriculture; tech and digital skills; beauty and events; building and construction; media and entertainment.
