In Alimosho, public school students are doing well!

Big-money private schools almost convince you that good schools must be costly. Education is not cheap, but it does not have to be crazy expensive or almost unaffordable, as students of our public schools in Alimosho often beat them in competitions.

In Alimosho, our public school students are doing well!

STUDENTS across the many public secondary schools in all the six LCDAs of Alimosho LGA proved to Lagos State in 2022, that public schools in the council area are still foremost in turning out quality scholars.

Big-money private schools almost convince you that good schools must be costly. Education is not cheap, but it does not have to be crazy expensive or almost unaffordable, as students of our public schools in Alimosho often beat them in competitions.

At the 2022 Lagos State Student Entrepreneurship Activity Hub (SEA-Hub) competition, the Alimosho Senior Grammar School won the Most Innovative Business and SEA-Hub Champion of the Year awards, while Abesan Senior High School, Alimosho won the Best Use of Technology award.

The best team in the exhibition was won by Jakande Estate Comprehensive Senior College, the first runner-up was Abesan Senior High School, Alimosho and the second runner-up was Meiran Community Senior High School.

In February, the United States Consulate launched a drone soccer competition in Lagos to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among Nigerian students. Unsurprisingly, the first, second, and third positions were won by students in Alimosho schools, with Abesan Senior High School coming third, with prize money of $1,500 (over #980,000).

In August, Ngwaogu Ifeoluwa Ugochi of Abesan Senior High School, Ipaja was rewarded with the sum of #150,000 after she emerged winner of the third South African Airways Essay Competition (SAAEC, 2022).

Most recently, another student, Wisdom Nwomuma beat 52 students to win the 2022 secondary school essay competition organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

These are just a few of the many laurels and recognitions students from public schools in Alimosho brought to our community. And as we start off this new year, it is our firm belief that our students will do us proud yet again.
