A student of the Egan Senior Grammar School, Esther Nzeogwu, has emerged as the winner of the Potential Leaders Award for participating in the Alimosho Leaders of Tomorrow Conference (ALoTC) 2023 competition.
The Alimosho Leaders of Tomorrow Conference (ALoTC) 2023, sponsored by Avila Naturalle and some other notable corporate sponsors, featured a competition tagged “What If You Were The President?” which was opened to participating schools.
The schools were required to send a three-minute video showcasing a student explaining his or her developmental plans for the nation if they were to be President of Nigeria. The videos were judged based on the appearance of the student, key viable points, time management, English Language fluency, and confidence.
Although several schools participated in the competition, three students from three schools emerged as Champions of the competition. Renics College (Oluguna Oluwatayo) came third; Gwat Private College (Towoju Sanmisola) came second, while Egan Senior Grammar School emerged as the Overall Champion.
The winners were duly awarded gifts during the ALoTC 2023, with Nzeogwu and the Egan Senior Grammar School getting award plagues for the wonderful presentation.
While speaking during the presentation of the award, the Lagos State Ministry of Education's representative, Dr Olubukola Rosanwo, who presented the awards to the winners, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the ALoTC 2023 for giving the students a platform to showcase their public speaking abilities.
She also added that she was glad that the overall champion of the competition was a public school student, noting that it is a testament to “the wonderful teaching abilities of public school teachers and the high importance the Lagos State Government is placing on the public education sector.”
She then urged the students to always strive to make an impact in the Alimosho community as they are the future leaders of the community, Lagos, and Nigeria, in general.
On her part, Nzeogwu appreciated the organisers of the ALoTC 2023, noting that the award and recognition will serve as motivation for her to pursue her dreams and achieve her goals.
