1. IGANDO-IKOTUN LCDA PARTNERS SPEED-UP LAGOS TO EMPOWER 500 YOUTHS
To alleviate poverty and unemployment, the Igando-Ikotun LCDA has partnered with the Lagos State Government under its WECAN Speed-Up Lagos programme to equip 500 residents with productive vocational skills.
2. FG DENIES INCREASING VALUE-ADDED TAX RATE FROM 7.5% TO 10%
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun has refuted reports suggesting an increase in the Value-Added Tax rate from 7.5 per cent to 10 per cent. For clarity, Edun reiterated that VAT remains at 7.5 per cent and will continue to be applied to all VAT-eligible goods and services.
3. IGP UNVEILS NEW UNIFORMS FOR SUPERNUMERARY OFFICERS
The Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr Olukayode Egbetokun has ordered organisations utilising Supernumerary Police (SPY) personnel to strictly adhere to the new standardised uniforms of the officers. Egbetokun said the Nigeria Police Force was actively taking measures to prevent the unauthorised production and distribution of police uniforms, including the SPY uniform.
4. FG BEGINS SALE OF RICE AT N40,000 TO NIGERIANS WITH NIN
The Federal Government has commenced the sale of 30,000 metric tonnes of milled rice to Nigerians at subsidised rates of N40,000 per 50-kilogramme bag. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said intending beneficiaries would be verified using relevant identification mediums, such as the National Identification Number (NIN) and phone numbers to forestall multiple accesses to the commodity by fraudulent individuals at the detriment of other citizens.
