1994 AFCON winner backs Super Eagles to win 2023 AFCON trophy

The ex-Super Eagles and Real Madrid midfielder has expressed confidence in the national team under the leadership of Jose Peseiro to bring home the prestigious football trophy.

MUTIU Adepoju, who won the 1994 AFCON title with Nigeria has backed the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win the next edition of the African Football Competition in Cote d’Ivoire.

The ex-Super Eagles and Real Madrid midfielder has expressed confidence in the national team under the leadership of Jose Peseiro to bring home the prestigious football trophy.

The Super Eagles are set to compete at the AFCON for the twentieth time in history, winning it three times with their last win coming in 2013 when they secured a 1-0 victory against Burkina Faso.

 "We have many chances because we have a lot of players in Africa, and our players playing in Europe are performing exceptionally well in their clubs," Adepoju said to allnigeriasoccer.com.

"We also have many players in Nigerian clubs who are excelling. It's only a matter of time, and I believe that time has come,” he added.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria boast of talented players in the national team with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, and Ademola Lookman, who are ready to represent Nigeria on the biggest stage in Africa.
