SUPER Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen has debunked rumours of picking up an injury during Galatasaray's 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa in a Turkish Super Lig encounter.
The lethal striker asked to be replaced before the start of the second half during the encounter at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi RAMS Park on Saturday evening.
Speculation was raised that the player withdrew from the game due to a serious injury as the Turkish giants threw a 3-goal lead following the substitution of the loan signing from Napoli.
"I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort. I thought I should tell my coach.
“If I reduced the team, it would be bad. I did not want my other teammates' performance to decrease. I told Mauro and the coach. That is why I left the game,” Osimhen was quoted as saying by Galatasaray's official website.
Osimhen, before his withdrawal from the game, scored two goals taking his goal involvement for Galatasaray to five (two goals and three assists).
He is expected to be available for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya in October.
