THE Champions League fixture between Real Madrid and Liverpool ended in a 2-0 victory for the Premier League club yesterday at Anfield Stadium.
Alexis MacAllister and Cody Gakpo scored in the second half to earn the Reds all three points against the visiting side.
The score line could have been different but Kylian Mbappe missed from the penalty spot in the 61st minute before Mohammed Salah also missed his spot kick in the 70th minute.
The loss to Real Madrid now places them 24th in the Champions League table as they have lost three games in a single group stage/league phase for the first time ever in the Champions League.
As for Liverpool, they have beaten the La Liga giants in the Champions League for the first time since 2009 under Rafael Benitez.
Up next for Liverpool is the visit of Manchester City, and a win for Arne Slot's men will send them 11 points clear of the champions.
