MANCHESTER United have confirmed Ruben Amorim's appointment as the club's new manager, following Erik Ten Hag's sacking earlier this week.
In a club statement on Friday, the Red Devils confirmed that Amorim will take charge of the club on November 11, 2024, after agreeing to a contract until June 2027, with the option of a further year.
United have paid Sporting an extra €1m (£840,000) in addition to his €10m (£8.4m) exit clause for an early release from his 30-day notice period.
The 39-year-old, who will replace Erik ten Hag, will have his first Premier League game against Ipswich Town on November 24 while Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue in an interim role until then.
Van Nistelrooy, who oversaw a 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday will be in the dugout for the visit of Chelsea in the Premier League this Sunday.
Van Nistelrooy will also take charge of the Europa League clash with PAOK at Old Trafford and a Premier League game at home to Leicester City next week.
