SUPER Eagles of Nigeria and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman has admitted it would be special to win the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
The 27-year-old winger is among the favourites to win the award as he was named as one of the 10 nominees for this year’s CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Ademola, speaking to 54footballx, noted that he is not under pressure to win the individual accolade, but it would be a special moment for him should he clinch the prestigious African football award.
“I don’t think I am feeling additional pressure. I think I have kept the same mindset; I have kept the same work ethic. I am just trying to do my best, do my best on the pitch,” the Nigerian international told 54footballx.
“I think I try to improve every single day, and you know if I can win the award, it would be special most definitely for me, my family, my people, my country, but you, that is the future. The future will come. Now, I need to focus on doing my best,” he added.
Ademola Lookman was responsible for Atalanta's Europa League success last season, scoring a hattrick in the finals against Bayer Leverkusen and winning the Player of the Match award.
He also scored four goals that took Nigeria to the finals of the 2023 AFCON tournament earlier this year, which saw the Eagles lose to the host nation, Ivory Coast.
