EX-Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder, John Mikel Obi has revealed his best-ever game when he played for Premier League club, Chelsea.
The 36-year-old midfielder was an integral part of Chelsea's success in the Premier League for a period of 11 years, winning the Premiership title, FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League.
The former captain of the Nigeria national team revealed that his best game for the Blues was in the 2012 UEFA Champions League final, which saw the Blues secure the trophy on penalties for the first time against Bayern Munich in a 1-1 draw at 120 minutes.
“My best-ever game [Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League final against Bayern],” Mikel was quoted by Chelsea’s official website.
“I should have won the Man of the Match, but Didier [Drogba] obviously came good and saved the day. I have watched that game a few times since. There is nothing better than this,” he added.
Mikel, who also won the 2013 AFCON title with Nigeria, eventually left Chelsea to join China club Tianjin TEDA in 2017.
