WITH 25 minutes into the second half of Manchester City's game against West Ham, Erling Haaland scored what would be his 35th goal this season, as he has now broken the Premier League record for most goals in a season.
The goal scored by the 22-year-old against West Ham now places his name in the record books, as he is now the highest goal-scoring player in a Premier League season, beating the long-standing record of 34 shared by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole.
City Boss, Pep Guardiola, was the happiest after the record was broken by one of his own, as he expressed his joy and hopes that the Norwegian will break the record again.
“Everyone is happy to have him with us. This record will be broken again. Maybe, by him in the future or by another one. But he will score a lot of goals.
“When there is a special occasion, we have to show how special it is. He has beaten incredible top strikers - Shearer and Cole. It’s special," Pep said after the game.
Erling Haaland, who was given a guard of honour by his teammates, can still add to his goal tally, as the Manchester City side still has five games to the end of the season.
