Shobowale graduates, empowers outstanding participants in Speed-Up Lagos skills acquisition programme

THE Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on February 26, 2025, celebrated a remarkable achievement as over 200 beneficiaries successfully graduated from the Speed-Up Lagos skills acquisition programme, an initiative of the Lagos State Government in partnership with the LCDA. This impactful programme is aimed at equipping participants with essential vocational and entrepreneurial skills to foster self-reliance and economic growth.

The grand graduation ceremony, held at the council secretariat, was a testament to the commitment of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chief Mrs Bola Shobowale, who continues to champion development initiatives that uplift the community.

In her address, Shobowale congratulated the graduands, commended the participants for their dedication and perseverance throughout the programme, and encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship and drive progress within the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA. She emphasised that skill acquisition is a powerful tool for combating unemployment and poverty.

“Today, (yesterday) marks the beginning of a new chapter for each of you. The skills you have acquired in home essentials production, baking & catering, makeup & gele styling, fashion design, leatherwork, and more, are invaluable assets. I urge you to use them wisely, create opportunities for yourselves, and contribute to the development of our great LCDA,” she said.

The Head of Administration, Mr Babatunde Saheed, also praised the graduates, stating that their achievements reflect not only their hard work but also the collective vision for a brighter and more productive community.

A major highlight of the event was the participants' confident showcase of their handmade creations and demonstration of their newly acquired skills, proving their readiness to become successful entrepreneurs.

To further support their journey, outstanding participants were empowered with essential tools and equipment, including sewing machines, pedicure machines, makeup kits, flour mixers, gas stoves, gas cylinders, phones, hairdresser kits, and more.

Meanwhile, the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Olusanya Muinat Adenike, expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman for her continuous support and dedication to youth and women empowerment. She commended the instructors and the attendees for their hard work and commitment.

The graduation ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including the SLG, Hon. Prince Rotimi Akinniyi; Party Chairman, Hon. Wole Aina; Leader of the House, Hon. Danmola Monsuru (aka MOD); councillors; supervisors; management staff; and community leaders.

The event concluded with the official presentation of certificates, empowerment tools, and equipment to the graduates, marking yet another success in the Bola Shobowale administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance skill development and economic empowerment in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA.
