Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA advocates against cholera

THE Management of the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA has advocated against the cholera disease that is currently plaguing some parts of Lagos State.

A statement made available for publication on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, and signed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Bola Shobowale, read: “Cholera is a sudden illness that happens when a person swallows food or water containing Vibrio cholerae bacteria. Cholera can cause severe diarrhoea, dehydration and even death. Clean water and good hygiene are important to prevent it.

“Cholera comes from the V. cholerae bacteria. People infected with these bacteria can spread disease through their faeces (also called stool or poop). They do so when infected faeces get into the water system. If the water isn’t properly sanitised (cleaned), people using the water to drink, cook and wash risk exposure.”9888

The statement also included some cholera symptoms, which include diarrhoea, extremely watery poop, intense thirst, lower amounts of urine (pee), muscle cramps, restlessness or irritability, vomiting, and weakness.

The statement then advised residents with any of the cholera symptoms to immediately contact a nearby healthcare provider in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, including Igbogila Primary Health Centre, Bada Primary Health Centre, Bada, Baruwa Primary Health Centre, Baruwa, Egbirin Primary Health Centre, Ayobo, Ishefun Primary Health Centre, Ishefun, Cele Apata Primary Health Centre, or the Alimosho General Hospital, Igando.
