Police arrest suspected cultist terrorising Igando, Ikotun

POLICE operatives attached to Ojo Division of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a cultist and house breaker, Marcus Ikechukwu, for allegedly terrorising  and breaking into houses of residents in Ikotun and Igando areas of Alimosho.

Ikechukwu 34, according to Lagos State Police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, has been on the command's blacklist for a long time and was arrested after police patrol in Alaba intercepted a vehicle the suspect was driving.

“The police team on patrol at Alaba International Market, Lagos, intercepted one green T4 bus and upon search, some suspected stolen items were recovered. The items included one large cutter for breaking into houses and three big generators. He said. 

He continued: “The suspect has confessed to the crime that he had broken into many houses in Surulere, Igando and Ikotun areas of Lagos State.

“Similarly, the same police operatives attached to Ojo Division on May 17, 2021, at around 10.30 pm, arrested two suspected traffic robbery suspects and house breakers in Tiv Yam Market, off Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Alaba Rago, Ojo Lagos.

“The suspects are Abdulkareem Hamzat, 24, of old Nepa Road, Alaba Rago, Ojo and Nura Adamu, 20, of Karabosowa, Ojo, Lagos. They were caught in possession of two dagger knives, a giant cutter, one cutlass, catapult and some weeds suspected to be cannabis,” Adejobi said.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the suspects be handed over to the command’s Special Squad, Ikeja, for proper investigation.

He further appealed to the public to beware and keep watch against strange faces in their communities and relate closely with their divisional police officers and local vigilantes to curb crimes and criminality in the state.
