THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, hosted a Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) delegation at the Council Secretariat in Ikotun, Lagos.
The visit, led by LASIEC Chairman, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), is part of the preparations for the upcoming 2025 Local Government elections. The LASIEC team, including Commissioners and senior staff, toured the area to assess facilities for the proper conduct of elections. Among the officials present were Hon. Justice Okikiolu-Ighile, Commissioners Ajibade Samson, Oluwo Akeem, Metilelu Olumide, Aileru Habeeb, Adekanye Oladele, and Permanent Secretary, Fashola Abdul-Rafiu.
During the visit, Hon. Okikiolu-Ighile emphasised the need for a conducive environment to ensure the smooth operation of LASIEC across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos. She noted that the Commission's sensitive electoral materials must be securely housed, and local councils should support them by providing appropriate office spaces. 
In his response, Comrade Akinsanya assured the LASIEC team of full cooperation and pledged that necessary office facilities would be prepared in time for the election. He also commended the Igando-Ikotun LCDA's electoral Officers, praising their dedication and support of the commission.
The meeting also included key LASIEC staff, such as the Directors of Election Operations, Voter Education, Administration, and Public Affairs, as well as other officials.
This visit underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure a seamless electoral process as Lagos prepares for the 2025 Local Government elections.
