THE Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, held its 2025 budget stakeholders forum, yesterday October 2, 2024, at the council Secretariat hall, Ikotun.
The event brought together community leaders; royal fathers, the Community Development Committee (CDC), and Principal Officers of the council, among others to discuss the council's budget for the upcoming year.
In his keynote address, the Executive Chairman, Snr. Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya emphasised the importance of stakeholder involvement in decision-making. He encouraged participants to contribute to the budget, ensuring it reflects the community's needs.
"We value your input and look forward to constructive dialogue. Your participation will help us allocate resources effectively and address pressing needs," Akinsanya stated.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Council Manager, Engr. Mojeed Samsideen Adio, expressed gratitude to all residents present and encouraged them to participate actively.
"Your presence demonstrates our collective commitment to inclusive governance and participatory budgeting," he said.
The stakeholders engaged in Wards' dialogue, compiled resolutions and outlined their budget priorities. The interactive session allowed for robust discussions, focusing on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, security, environmental sustainability and others.
His Royal Majesty (HRM), the Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom, Oba, Dr Nojeemdeen Abidemi Aberejo, appealed to the Mayor to ensure the new Local Government Autonomy law benefits Igando-Ikotun community members. "We urge you to safeguard our interests and ensure this law brings positive change to our community," he stated.
In his response, the council's Helmsman pledged to implement all suggestions, ensuring the budget serves the community's interests. "We'll work tirelessly to address your concerns and prioritise your needs," he assured.
Delivering the closing remarks, the Executive Vice-Chairman, Hon. Mojisola Badmus, appreciated all stakeholders for their contributions, reaffirming the council's commitment to transparency and accountability.
"This stakeholder’s forum demonstrates our dedication to community-driven governance. We'll work together to create a budget that reflects our shared vision for Igando-Ikotun LCDA," she said.
