THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Akinsanya Lasisi Ayinde has embarked on the rehabilitation of the Potoku market located in the Igando area of the LCDA.
The Potoku market is one of the foremost markets in the council area. It is the hub of commercial activities in the area, with capacity for meaningful expansion hence the Government considers it an essential project to execute.
By the time work is done, the market will become more conducive, and more of the people will be productively engaged, thereby further stimulating the economy of the Local Government, with ripple effects on the overall economy of the State. This growth in the economy will boost the council's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which translates to increased funds available to the Government to work with for the benefit of the people.
The market upgrade plans include the construction of an extensive perimeter drainage system around the market to forestall the perennial water flooding issues, establishment of a befitting perimeter fence, entrance and exit, upgrade of the market motor park, establishment of a new borehole and toilet/sanitation facilities, completion of existing uncompleted structures in the market, and maintaining all access ways within the market.
Akinsanya reaffirmed that with the people’s support, Igando-Ikotun LCDA will be transformed into a physically functional, economically vibrant, socially harmonious and aesthetically delightful preferred destination for all.
