A particular line from Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie's recently released single “Brag” didn't sit well with a lot of Nigerians who believed the rapper was throwing shots at top Nigerian artists.
Listening to the lyrics of the song, the rapper had bragged that he was in the music industry before the big three Nigerian artists, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
This caused online rifts with Nigerians believing that Sarkodie was spiting their favourite artist. The rapper has now come out to explain what the line meant as he denies throwing jabs at them
“Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido would never think I want to jab them because if I want to jab somebody, it has to be rappers. They are not rappers.
“I am just talking to rappers about how long I’ve been there and who else is best to use as reverence? Everybody knows Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake and Davido. And it’s true that I was in the industry before they all came in. It’s just references to how long I’ve been there. It’s not throwing jabs at anybody. These are incredible, amazing artists,” he explained.
The issue has already escalated as former Davido’s signee, Dremo, and Sarkodie’s signee, Lyrical Joe, have both been releasing new diss tracks daily.
