Radio station bans Marlian Records songs

POPULAR Nigeria radio station, Fresh FM 106.9, has banned the airplay of all songs under the banner of the Marlian Records label, following ongoing investigation as regards the death of Mohbad.

Mohbad, an ex-signee of Marlian Records, died last week Tuesday under mysterious circumstances as the Nigerian Police set up a special investigative team to probe the singer’s death.

The Ekiti State radio station released a statement through its Head of Production and Music Content, Oluwaseunfunmi Williams, on the decision to ban any music affiliated to the record label.

“Following the public outcry from the general public trailing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimisation from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian Records), Fresh 106.9 FM has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records,” the statement read.

Other radio stations that have joined the ban on the airplay of music affiliated with Marlians Records include Splash FM and Agidigbo FM.
