POPULAR indigenous rapper and one of Nigeria’s biggest artistes, Olamide has recounted an experience he had with a then-senior colleague during a studio session.
The rapper, whose hit song “Eni duro” took him to the limelight of the music industry, is now one of the biggest artistes in Nigeria and Africa, and also one of the top record label managers in the country.
But all these did not happen without one or two experiences that made him question the probability of making it big in the industry.
The artiste disclosed that he went through an incident that could have led to a fight, but fortunately producer, ID Cabasa was there to calm the incident with just a look.
Olamide said, "I was in the studio when this senior artist came in to record a song, and he said he was hungry. Who else will he send to buy food if not me, who was the youngest in the studio?
"The money he gave me was not enough for his meal, so I decided to add my own money. I even used my money to pay for transportation. When I got back to the studio with the food, guess what this guy said to me?
"Cabasa, tell this your boy to give me my change. If he wants money, he should tell me, and I will give it to him. He should not use a trick to steal my money. I almost got angry, but one look from ID Cabasa calmed me down. Today, the guy is one of my biggest fans, and he is planning to do a song with me."
Olamide, since entering the music industry has released various chart-topping albums, singles, and collaborations. He has also won various awards, as well as performing at various sold-out concerts in and out of the country.
