NIGERIA music artiste, Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake has detailed why he prefers to sing in his native Yoruba language.
Speaking in an interview with ABC News, “Mr Money” explained that he sings mostly in his dialect because the language is so important to him and a lot of people understand it.
He also noted that it is not necessary for the listener to understand the Yoruba lyrics of the song before they can vibe with and enjoy the song.
“Yoruba is so important to me and there are a lot of people that understand it. And to me, the way I understand music is like it’s a feeling; sometimes you don’t even need to understand the language to enjoy the music," Asake said.
The artist, who is signed to YBNL and Empire Distribution, chose the name Asake as his performance name, because it pays homage to his mother, whose first name is Asake.
