Heaps of garbage still pile up on most roads in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos, despite the recent call by officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA)  that their services are very affordable and residents should stop dumping refuse on the roads.

The call was made at the recent Community Development Committee (CDC) meeting that was held in October.

The Admin Officer of LAWMA for Lagos West, Mr Mustapha Kazeem, appealed to residents of Egbe-Idimu and Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Areas ( LCDAs) to desist from dumping refuse on Lagos State Roads, as the agency's services are affordable and effective.

Jelili, LAWMA Captain for Egbe-Idimu LCDA also gave the list of charges to residents on waste disposal.

According to him, a room apartment is charged ₦200 monthly, a flat is ₦500, a ship is ₦200.00, a big shop pays ₦300, a school or company is charged ₦2,500 while a small school or company pays ₦1,500.

Residents also reacted in favour or against the given charges and quality of service.

Isaac Oluwaseun said: "It's not a lie. I reside on Shobowale Street in Cele Village by Alimosho Bus-Stop. LAWMA or PSP operate in my area. When the monthly bill is shared, each room in my neighborhood pays N150 ( one hundred and fifty naira). They come on Saturdays."

Another resident, Okunolanrewaju Joseph, however, said: "For some months now we have not seen them in my area."
